If your ReplyRush Auto DM is not working and you see an error like “You are not the owner of the thread”, it means another app such as ManyChat, SocialPost, or any other automation tool is still connected to your Instagram or Facebook Page.
Facebook only allows one messaging automation app at a time.
To make ReplyRush work correctly, you need to remove the other apps completely.
Follow the steps below to disconnect them correctly.
1. Remove Apps From Facebook Business Integrations
Open Facebook on a desktop browser
Go to Settings & Privacy → Settings
Open Business Integrations
-
Under “Active”, look for tools like:
ManyChat
SocialPost
WIX
WordPress App
Any other automation tool
Click Remove
Check the box:
“Delete posts, photos, and videos this app may have posted on your timeline”Confirm removal
This removes the app from your personal Facebook integration level.
2. Remove Apps From Meta Business Suite (Business Manager)
Some apps stay inside your Meta Business Manager even after removal from Facebook settings.
To remove them:
Open Integrations → Apps
Select the unwanted app (Example: ManyChat)
Click Remove
Removing apps from this section ensures they cannot control your Facebook Page or your Instagram messaging permissions.
3. Remove Apps From Instagram Account Center
Open the Instagram app
Go to Settings → Account Center
Tap Business Integrations
Find apps like ManyChat or other automation tools
Tap Remove
This removes the app’s access to your Instagram messaging.
4. Turn Off Meta’s Built-In Page Automations (if enabled)
Some Pages have old Meta automations running, which also block ReplyRush.
Open your Facebook Page
Go to Settings
Open New Pages Experience → Messaging
-
Turn off:
Automated responses
Instant replies
Away messages
ReplyRush will handle everything instead.
5. Reconnect Instagram & Facebook to ReplyRush
After removing other apps:
Log out of all Meta accounts
Go to ReplyRush
Open Connect Instagram / Facebook
Follow the login steps
Give all permissions
This step is important because Meta now resets ownership of messaging after you remove previous apps.
6. Test Auto DM
Try commenting on your own post or sending a message from another IG account.
If ReplyRush replies properly, everything is set.
Why Removing Other Apps Fixes Auto DM Problems
Facebook only allows one automation owner per inbox thread.
If another app still has permissions, Meta will show this error:
You are not the owner of the thread
Removing other apps resets the ownership to ReplyRush so Auto DM works correctly.
If You Still See an Error
Try these quick resets:
A. Switch Instagram Account Type
Business → Personal
Personal → Business again
Reconnect to ReplyRush
B. Re-add your Instagram inside Meta Business Manager
Go to Business Settings
Accounts → Instagram Accounts
Remove account
Add it again
Reconnect with ReplyRush
